Karara Rangeland Park
There are five areas in Karara Rangeland Park where camping is permitted: Damperwah Camp Zone, John Forrest Lookout, Kadji Kadji Camp Zone, Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar. Mongers Lake Camp is permanently closed.
Booking
Bookings are essential and can be made:
- online and at this website only
- for one motor vehicle or one motor vehicle and one caravan/camper trailer/other trailer only
- up to and including the day of arrival (subject to availability and your own internet service* to make a booking)
- up to 180 days (approximately six months) before arrival
* Check your mobile service provider’s coverage map but beware that the quality and reliability of service in regional and remote Australia can be variable.
Friends, family or other social groups travelling together in separate vehicles must make their own separate bookings.
Book to camp in the park and stay at any of the five camping areas for any night. Moving between camping areas is permitted.
If you are an outdoor education provider, licensed commercial tour operator or are organising an event (friends, family and other social groups camping together does not constitute an event), contact Parks and Wildlife Service Murchison District Office (Geraldton) to discuss your requirements.
Campsites
The camping areas are compacted gravel surface.
Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp is the only area with individual marked campsites.
There are no powered campsites in the park.
Facilities
Toilets at Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar.
There are no facilities at any of the other camping areas.
Campground Rules
You must bring and use a sealed-unit toilet for all camping areas except Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar. Portable toilets that collect waste in a bag are not permitted. Burying toilet waste is not permitted.
Carry all sealed-unit toilet waste out of the park for disposal in an authorised dump point. Do not empty waste from portable toilets into the toilets at Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar.
Campfires and solid fuel barbecues, cookers and heaters are not permitted when the Fire Danger Rating is High, Extreme or Catastrophic or when a Total Fire Ban is in force. Go to Emergency WA for Fire Danger Rating and Total Fire Ban information. Additional fire safety

Damperwah Camp Zone and John Forrest Lookout are in Midwest Inland Fire Weather District and the Shire of Perenjori.
Kadji Kadji Camp Zone is in Midwest Inland Fire Weather District and the Shire of Morawa.
Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar are in Gascoyne Inland Fire Weather District and the Shire of Yalgoo.
When campfires are permitted, they must be within your own firepit that must fully contain the fire on all sides and the fuel, fire and ashes off the ground and at least 3m from any flammable
material. Carry ashes out of the park for disposal. Never leave a campfire, stove, barbecue or heater unattended. Always extinguish a fire completely with water.
Bring your own firewood. Check current restrictions on the movement of wood, including firewood. Collecting firewood and kindling is not permitted in national parks and other conservation reserves.
Gas or liquid fuel appliances, including stoves,
barbecues, heaters and lighting may be used unless a Total Fire Ban is declared for the relevant shire.
No dogs or other domestic animals.
Generator use is permitted 8am-9pm only.
Carry all waste out of the park. No bins provided.
Fees
A per person camping fee applies. There is no vehicle entry fee for Karara Rangeland Park.
Camping fee must be paid by Mastercard or VISA when booking.

Your safety and health
Drinking water is not provided.
Toilets at Meelyu (formerly Meleya) Camp and Warriedar are the only personal hygiene facility.
December to April can be extremely hot and the risk of bushfire can be very high.
Storms are common between May and October throughout WA.
Karara Rangeland Park is in remote Australia.
Ensure you have sufficient supplies (including water, food, fuel, medication and first aid), and equipment and clothing appropriate for the conditions before travelling.

Location
Karara Rangeland Park is approximately 450 km north east of Perth and can be accessed via Morawa, Perenjori, Yalgoo or the Great Northern Highway.
Access to Damperwah and Kadji Kadji is suitable for high-clearance 4WD vehicles with low-range gears only. Access to other camping areas includes unsealed roads suitable for 2WD and AWD vehicles but road conditions can be variable and caution is advised.
